Area 51 Studios is much more than just a recording studio. Yes we have had sessions recording vocals, rhythm sections, accordion, trumpet, upright and electric bass, and much more. Yes we have had big name artists such as Usher, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, French Montana, LL Cool J, ASAP Rock and Ferg, DMC, George Benson, Esperanza Spaulding, and many more, while catering to just as many independent and “out of pocket” clients. Yes we have done voice over sessions with Susan Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, Hill Harper, Didi Conn as well as many other talented actors and actresses, We did record the band members from the Allman Brothers, have had the Neville Brothers, as well as recorded for a number of reality TV shows and dialogue for numerous TV and film projects. But we do more! We now offer creative services. We can help you score your next film or TV project or create music for your next advertisement. We can help you find an engineer or producer for your next project whether it is at our facility or not, or we can help connect you with some very talented musicians or background singers. Not to mention we are a very private facility that is competitively priced in a great location.

Happenings….

Area 51 Studios has been very busy as of late with a variety of sessions doing recording, mixing, voiceover work, video shoots and more. We have had the pleasure of working with some great artists, producers, engineers and talented entertainers over the last few months. Our studio is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan and offers a number of very competitively priced services. We have a great selection of equipment and a knowledgeable friendly staff. Block and long term rates are available. We currently have a fully equipped production room available for long term rental!

About us…

Area 51 Studios is a mid-sized facility composed of two main rooms, our North and South rooms. Both studios are based around protool systems, but offer a variety of analog options. We have a large collection of gear including Studer, Lexicon, Grace, Avalon, Sonosax, True, Focusrite Red and Blues, Tubetech, 1176’s, Distressors, Fatso and much more! Our mic collection offers a variety of choices for every type of recording scenario. Some, but not all, of our mics include Neumann, Audio Technics, JV, Schoeps, Sennheiser, B&K, AKG and much more. We have a variety of monitoring options from our Augspurger mains, to Tannoy, Genelec, Yamaha, & Aurotone. We have a variety of Keyboards, controllers and weighted key.

It’s great to have so many choices in our equipment collection for our clients, but nothing beats experience. Studio owners Roey Shamir and Tony Drootin have over 50 years of combined experience in the recording industry. Their staff is knowledeable and helpful. Area 51’s goal is to pack a huge punch in a mid-sized package by creating a versatile recording and mixing environment with a great staff in rooms that are conveniently located, comfortable, great sounding, and affordable.

AES Event

Another AES show has come and gone, but it’s memories will last a lifetime. As has been our habit when the show hits New York we hosted a very successful event with the help of some great friends at some fantastic companies. October ’13 happenings

We are happy to report Area 51 NYC is busier than ever with some great and diverse projects. Recently we have had a variety of tracking sessions, mixing, voiceover work, photo shoots and interviews, mastering sessions and more. Area 51 NYC owner Tony Drootin recently co-executive produced the Songs for a Healthier America CD for Partnership for a Healthier America and Hip Hop Public Health, with invaluable expertise being provided by co-owner Roey Shamir behind the console mixing a large number of songs and mastering the LP. We are proud and happy to have been a part of this historic project. Area 51 Studios offers a vast number of recording, mixing and mastering services in a comfortable and affordable environment. Our clients vary from A-list recording artists and entertainers, publishing companies, advertising agencies…. too independent labels and start up recording entrepreneurs. September News

We are happy to have had such a great summer season at Area 51 Studios with a long list of recording, mix, and mastering sessions. The studio has had a large A-list of artists working on a diverse variety of music, some of which have been Nick Cannon, Ariana Grande, DMC, CNN news, Monifah, and much much more! Our clients often comment on “what a great vibe” the facility has…and ‘how comfortable” it is here….and “this room sounds great”. We are constantly striving to improve our facility so whomever is working with us, on whatever they may be working on, leaves with a great recording and studio experience.

And lastly our location in midtown on the fringe of Hells Kitchen is easy to get too, surrounded by hotels, attractions, bars, clubs and fantastic dining options. November update

North control room

Hello everyone! First we hope everyone affected by Tropical Storm Sandy are well on there way to getting back to normal. Our thoughts are with those who are still suffering. We were lucky enough too not have any significant damage though we, like many other businesses in the area, were effected by it.

With that said….we have had some great projects at the studio. This past month we have had some long and short term Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, and Pop bookings doing everything from basic tracking, vocals and a variety of instrument overdubs, mixing and editing, mastering and voice over work. We also made it out to the San Fran AES show to look at some of the old, new, and upcoming technology that we feel would enhance the work environment for our clientele.

As the year is slowly winding down we are hoping you will consider us when booking time in NYC. We know there are many studios to choose from, but we strive to be your #1 choice. Our staff is friendly and knowledgeable, we are conveniently located on 51st Street in the Hells Kitchen area where the list of food and accommodation choices are endless, and we have a great and growing collection of equipment.
