This past summer Pusha T and songwriter/producer Mario Winans blessed us with their presence. At the Addias Originals Launch, the President of G.O.O.D Music announced his new album King Push. He gave a little teaser of what is to come mentioning Kanye West, Timbaland, Puffy, Hudson Mohawke and Boi 1da producing his album. In addition Jill Scott, Future and ASAP Rocky makes guests appearances. Thanks to our engineers Juan Pena and Mike Rachlin for holding it down. Check out the first track “Untouchable:”

It’s been a while since our last update and we hope everyone is spectacular! Area 51 has been quite busy as of late. We have had some fantastic projects in the studio with various writing sessions, vocal od’s, tracking guitars, strings and a choir, voice overs, mixing and more! A good selection of our microphone collection that we purchased from the Sony Classical remote kit was recently used on a large ensemble recording session. Area 51 is the perfect studio for all your recording and production needs. The studio has a very robust selection of plugins, outboard gear, and microphones. The iconic independent producer, mixer, and engineer Joe Blaney stopped by Area 51 NYC to mix famous Argentine singer and actor, Palito Ortega‘s new album. Joe Blaney has been involved with iconic bands The Clash and The Ramones as well as Prince, Keith Richards, Tom Waits, Blues Traveler, and Soul Asylum. We were very happy to accommodate Joe’s favorite personal mixing toys alongside our equipment at Area 51. Understanding The Songwriter Equity Act of 2014

You may have heard about H.R. 4079, introduced on Feb. 25, 2014, which proposes to amend the current U.S. Copyright Law. “The Songwriter Equity Act of 2014” by its very title insinuates it helps songwriters. Public support from entities such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, NARAS, NSAI and NMPA, strengthens that position. But how exactly does the new bill propose to help, and what, in all likelihood, will happen next?
First, let’s look at how this came about. Congressman Doug Collins, a freshman republican from Georgia, introduced the bill. I met Mr. Collins and talked with his staff in his D.C. office the day after it was introduced. Area 51 Studios is a mid-sized facility composed of two main rooms, our North and South rooms. Both studios are based around protool systems, but offer a variety of analog options. We have a large collection of gear including Studer, Lexicon, Grace, Avalon, Sonosax, True, Focusrite Red and Blues, Tubetech, 1176’s, Distressors, Fatso and much more! Our mic collection offers a variety of choices for every type of recording scenario. Some, but not all, of our mics include Neumann, Audio Technics, JV, Schoeps, Sennheiser, B&K, AKG and much more. We have a variety of monitoring options from our Augspurger mains, to Tannoy, Genelec, Yamaha, & Aurotone. We have a variety of Keyboards, controllers and weighted key.

As we enter yet another year the staff at Area 51 NYC wishes everyone a very happy, healthy, and successful New Year! Last year was a great year for us with many great projects by a variety of artists in all musical genres. We feel a recording studio is like a great guitar player…..able to play any style of music. In 2013 we had sessions with some very talented artists in Jazz, Pop, Hip Hop, Blues, EDM, Classical and even Barbershop Quartet! We also had numerous sessions with voice over work, spoken word, photo shoots, interviews, mastering, and recording and mix to picture. 2014 promises to be even better!

We are happy to report Area 51 NYC is busier than ever with some great and diverse projects. Area 51 NYC owner Tony Drootin recently co-executive produced the Songs for a Healthier America CD for Partnership for a Healthier America and Hip Hop Public Health, with invaluable expertise being provided by co-owner Roey Shamir behind the console mixing a large number of songs and mastering the LP. We are proud and happy to have been a part of this historic project. Area 51 Studios offers a vast number of recording, mixing and mastering services in a comfortable and affordable environment.
